The Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action # (number) 88 calls on all levels of government to take action to ensure long-term Indigenous athlete development and growth through continued support of the North American Indigenous Games.

Answering this call, the Toronto 2017 North American Indigenous Games has developed legacy initiatives that will live on beyond the 2017 Games to support the importance of long-term athlete development, sport and physical activity within Indigenous communities and for future generations .
