After an extremely comprehensive and extensive bid process, Toronto, Ontario, Canada (and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)) has been selected as the host city for the 2017 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG), scheduled to take place from July 16-23, 2017. The Aboriginal Sport and Wellness Council Ontario (ASWCO) was declared the winning bidder for the 2017 NAIG and, thus, was selected as the host for this event. “We look forward to welcoming NAIG to Toronto in 2017!” Marc Laliberte, Chair of the NAIG Bid Committee and President of ASWCO declared. “For many of the youth who participate in these Games, these facilities will arguably be some of the best that they ever compete in!” After being awarded the 2017 NAIG, a Host Society was formed and incorporated as a not-for-profit organization. The Toronto 2017 NAIG Host Society is responsible for delivering and executing the Toronto 2017 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG), in the spirit of the NAIG Movement, by presenting a world class multi-sport and cultural event that promotes the power of sport and positively affects the lives of Indigenous youth and communities across North America.
The Toronto 2017 NAIG Host Society will ensure that the 2017 Games lives on through an enduring legacy providing hope, access and opportunity for the Indigenous Peoples of North America, and will deliver the best in-class Games experience possible.
